Our artist has shown
us in lighter vein the sad fate of a family stricken with
the quite unnecessary war panic which was only too prominent
during the first week of the war, and which,
had a very serious side too, needlessly sending the price of
foodstuffs up to such an extent that the Government were
obliged, with the co-operation of leading firms, to intervene
by fixing maximum prices for certain commodities.
